Good Morning, Teachers and my dear friends, I , Aditya Vikram Singh , am going to speak against the motion (Social Networking Sites have more advantages than disadvantages).
You all have used social networking sites, one or the other, but have you ever thought about the way these sites cheat you. Most of these sites are mere platforms to view advertisements, rather than connecting people. Face book for example was created by Mark Zukerberg to earn money not to do a social service. Moreover, these sites have a lot of privacy issues. When you put your pics and videos on such sites you can never be sure that they don't use it, or, distribute it.
The accounts on social sites are also mostly fake. Which results in a high ratio of cyber crime. The possibilities of using such sites as weapons are practically endless. Taken to the fact that humans are communicative to each other, Criminals use fake accounts to influence our feelings, emotions, and probably life. Many cases have been reported of suicides of users of such sites, most died because they were bullied.
The lack of a regulating body to control and direct the use of such sites makes them vulnerable. Specially to Fake accounts. There are minimal guidelines, or rules, to monitor the user, most of these can be easily bypassed. An example of such is age regulation. A child of 3 years can frankly be 100 year old on these sites. And still these sites won't care cause they mean business. And I ask a question, How many of us really be true and civilized, that is with proper etiquette on these sites? Absolutely None.
My friends, point out that they are a great communicating tools and allow group chats. Well I totally agree with them but I should also point out that these so called chats are half filled with "Hi" and "Hello". And these chats in reality have no use. Communicating with chat apps is better than communicating with These sites.
"Face book was itself made on the principle that people are interested in other lives more than their own", Also most people have selfish feelings about others, specially their own friends. People are likely seen taking Photographs and videos of their trips etc. to put on their profiles. Don't be mistaken that they put it to "tell" others that they are on trip, rather Ironically they put it to "show" them that they are on a trip.
Hereby, I conclude my argument by saying that Social sites are useless wastes and don't serve the purpose they are publicized for. With a little advantage of communication they carry enormous risks and disadvantages that just cannot be Ignored. A viable alternative exists in the form of blogs where we can post our feelings, articles, journals and Picture galleries without involving the risks.
